At the 67th ASH Annual Meeting and Exposition, our researchers shared new findings highlighting gaps in emergency care for patients with sickle cell disease. Dr. Ibrahim Gwarzo presented a national study showing that only one in three patients receive recommended opioid pain relief within the first hour of emergency department arrival. Delays were linked to increased suffering and higher hospitalization risk.
