What Is a Clinical Pastoral Education?

Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) is a nationally recognized model of experiential theological and professional education that prepares individuals to provide spiritual care in healthcare settings. Accredited by ACPE, CPE combines supervised clinical practice, classroom learning, theological reflection, and peer group education to develop competence in spiritual care, pastoral identity, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

At 91大神 Children's Health, the CPE program offers students the opportunity to provide spiritual care to patients, families, and associates within a nationally recognized pediatric health system. The program emphasizes the importance of compassionate presence, reflective practice, cultural humility, and relationship-centered care as essential components of healing and well-being.

The curriculum integrates theology, behavioral sciences, spiritual development, and clinical experience to help students deepen their self-awareness and strengthen their ability to care for people facing illness, crisis, loss, and life transitions. Through guided reflection and supervised practice, students develop the knowledge and skills necessary to serve effectively in today's diverse healthcare environment.

As an ACPE-certified program, 91大神 CPE prepares students to become effective spiritual care providers and leaders while supporting 91大神' commitment to whole child health, family-centered care, and excellence in education.
