However, it is not long before he starts making noises and sounds that are close to the sounds you make as you talk (coos and oohs). <b>Step 1:&nbsp;</b>Choose a time when your infant is awake and alert and listen for him to make sounds.&nbsp;</p>\r\n<p><b>Step 2:&nbsp;</b>Respond to your child’s sounds by mimicking the sounds and building the sounds into an interaction between you and your child. It might go something like this:&nbsp;</p>\r\n<p style=\"margin-left: 40px;\"><b>Infant:&nbsp;</b>“Ooooohhhh, ooooohhhh.”&nbsp;</p>\r\n<p style=\"margin-left: 40px;\"><b>Parent: </b>“Ooooohhhh. You like looking at your big brother, don’t you? Ahhh.”&nbsp;</p>\r\n<p style=\"margin-left: 40px;\"><b>Infant:</b> “Ooooohhhh.”&nbsp;</p>\r\n<p style=\"margin-left: 40px;\"><b>Parent: </b>“Ooooohhh. Your big brother is making funny faces at you! It’s so funny!”&nbsp;</p>\r\n<p><b>Step 3:&nbsp;</b>Continue this type of exchange as long as your baby is engaged and interested. Step 1: Choose a time when your infant is awake and alert and listen for him to make sounds. 

Step 2: Respond to your child’s sounds by mimicking the sounds and building the sounds into an interaction between you and your child. It might go something like this: 

ԴڲԳ:“Ooooohhhh, ooooohhhh.” 

Parent: “Ooooohhhh. You like looking at your big brother, don’t you? Ahhh.” 

Infant: “OǴǴǴdz.” 

Parent: “Ooooohhh. Your big brother is making funny faces at you! It’s so funny!” 

Step 3: Continue this type of exchange as long as your baby is engaged and interested. Even though your infant is not aware, these are some of his first conversations.
